Maths at home

There are many ways you can help your child with Maths at home. Here are some suggestions:

  • Counting at any opportunity - steps, paving stones, leaves, in multiples.
  • Using timers - how long does it take to do an activity, can they beat their time.
  • Have a watch
  • Cooking - measuring out ingredients, reducing a recipe.
  • Playing a board game - logic and problem-solving skills, strategy.
  • Puzzles
  • Art - making pictures with shapes, building and construction.
  • Den making - problem-solving skills and strategy.

We also run a school Maths challenge, as a homework task, which has more ideas for some hands-on, practical Maths activities.
