The root of the ethos of Stanion Church of England Primary School is based on the two commandments in Saint Matthew’s Gospel.

Love the lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.

Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the church at parish and diocesan level. The ethos of a school is tenuous and intangible - however there are many ways in which this vital element can be fostered.

Children - each child should know that she or he is valued for her or his individual worth. They should develop a mutual esteem of others based on acceptance and trust.

Behaviour - there should be an agreed behaviour standards that children, staff and parents accept and share together.

Staff - It is vital that all staff feel they are valued for the part they play in the life of the school - positive selfesteem will engender mutual respect and understanding.

Governors - The school governors make every effort to get involved in the life of the school - to build up relationships with children, staff and parents.

Parents - the school is committed to an open partnership with parents.

Church - The church is recognised as the prime spiritual resource as well as a physical resource.

Local Community - The school aims to serve its community by developing strong links and by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice.

Wider Issues - Children should be encouraged to have a world view of the planet we live on and its challenges.
