School Governors

Our main role is to support the Headteacher and the staff - the phrase often used to describe this role is a 'critical friend'. We help them to set and reach targets and to strive for excellence across the whole spectrum of school life

Our legal duties include:-

  • setting strategic direction, policies and objectives;
  • approving the school budget;
  • reviewing progress against the school's budget and objectives;
  • appointing, challenging and supporting the headteacher.

The Governing Body meet at least once every term. We are committed to providing an excellent environment for all pupils to enjoy during their time at our school.

REGISTER OF BUSINESS INTERESTS GUIDANCE AND MODEL FORM

It is important that governors and staff not only act impartially, but are also seen to act impartially. The governing body and school staff have a responsibility to avoid any conflict between their business and personal interests and affairs and those of the school. There is a legal duty on all governors to declare an interest likely to lead to questions of bias when considering any item of business at a meeting and for the governor concerned to withdraw, if necessary, whilst the matter is considered.
