Project 2.4 - Creative Curriculum
Project 2.4 – ‘Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.’ Philippians 2:4
We are excited to be launching a new creative curriculum for our school called Project 2.4. The children will be completing a range of activities on selected Wednesday afternoons. Each class teacher will lead an activity and the children will complete 5 activities over a 10-week period.
The activities are all linked to the natural world and ‘The Lost Words book.’ In 2007, when a new edition of the Oxford Junior Dictionary -- widely used in schools around the world -- was published, a sharp-eyed reader soon noticed that around forty common words concerning nature had been dropped. ‘The Lost Words’ by Robert MacFarlane and Jackie Morris was created in response to this, as a way of raising awareness of the importance of keeping these words in our language, and of the importance of understanding and appreciating our natural environment.
One of the activities will be a Nature trail around Stanion to learn more about the local wildlife. The children will complete a checklist and answer questions. Other activities include; pebble painting, nature fact files, mood boards and nature printing.
We hope to display the children’s work towards the end of November and will invite you all to come and have a look at all the hard work. We hope to complete further projects in the spring and summer terms.
