School Sports Funding

Stanion CE (VA) Primary School – Sports Premium

School Sports Funding

Building on Britain’s success in the Olympics, as part of a government initiative, every school is to receive funding to spend on improving the quality of PE and school sport for all children.

At Stanion CE (VA) Primary School we believe that promoting healthy and active lifestyles is a crucial part of each child’s development and encouraging all our children to be active and to enjoy participating in a wide range of physical activities both in lessons and through a range of extra-curricular activities is a vitally important part of the work we do in school.

Impact of Provision

We have used the funding for:

  • enhancing curriculum provisions and resources;
  • delivering staff training opportunities;
  • ensuring all children have access to 2 hours provision per week;
  • buying a new scheme of work (Real P.E);
  • receiving weekly support from the Corby and Oundle Sports Partnership;
  • provide the pupils with the opportunity to compete against other schools.  We have seen a rise in the number of children representing the school from 40% in 2013 to 87% in 2016.
  • provide opportunities for after school and lunchtime sports participation including: golf, archery, netball, football, fencing and tag-rugby.
  • enhancing the outside environment by installing a multi use games area (MUGA) for football and basketball and adventure trail.
  • being awarded the Silver Games Sports Award for the past 2 years.
  • accessing a sports specific curriculum delivered by professional coaches in rugby, tennis and cricket.
  • developing opportunities for Leadership through sport by establishing a Sports Crew who are responsible for leading playtime activities and organising in-school competitions.
